Postcards From Preston

A daily art project by Kalindy Williams from Naarm/Melbourne, Australia

Kalindy Williams is a Melbourne-based artist making an art postcard every single day and sharing it on her Instagram. With over 550 postcards completed and no end in sight.

She started in Melbourne's first lockdown in May 2020 deciding to create a piece of art, each the size of a postcard, every day for 100 days. When Melbourne went in to their second, then third, forth, fifth and now sixth lockdown, unsure of when it would end she decided to keep creating art, trying new styles and bringing a little bit of joy to her social media followers.

Kalindy has been using the daily art challenge as a way to help her mental health, to try new techniques and to practice art styles outside her chosen medium.

The only rules set from the beginning of the project are to use what you have on hand, make it analogue, and do it everyday no matter how you are feeling. In this way the art postcards work as a visual diary of each day’s events on a personal, local and sometimes global scale.
